Racist California congressman: Keep minimum wage low 'for minorities' who aren't worth more than $7 an hour

California Republican Rep. Tom McClintock said on Thursday that the minimum wage should not be raised because low pay was necessary for minorities and other unskilled workers who were not worth more than $7 an hour.

During an appearance on C-SPAN's , host Greta Brawner asked McClintock if he could get behind a presidential candidate like Mitt Romney, who is one of an increasing number of Republicans saying that the minimum wage should be at least $10.10 an hour.

But McClintock argued that raising the minimum wage would "rip the first rung in the ladder of opportunity for teenagers, for minorities, for people who are trying to get into the job market for their first job."

The California Republican explained that the minimum wage was not supposed to be a living wage that could support families.

"It's not supposed to support a family. The minimum wage is that first job when you have no skills, no experience, no working history. That's how you get into the job market, that's how you develop that experience, develop that work record, get your first raise, then your next raise, then your promotion."

McClintock continued: "If your labor is an unskilled person just entering the workforce is worth say $7 an hour at a job and the minimum wage is $10, you have just been made permanently unemployable. That first rung of the economic ladder has been ripped out and you can't get on it. That is a tragedy."

Chris Kyle vs. Casey Sheehan - The U.S. glorifies murderers while frowning upon the real heroes who refuse to kill

Casey and his Mom

Navy Seal and American Shame (Sniper), Chris Kyle

"I can't kill anyone." US working-class soldier before his short deployment to Iraq, Casey Sheehan

This is something that I don't want to revisit - I never want to relive the worst experience of my life. However, with the 11th anniversary of my son's death in Iraq on 04/04/04 approaching and the new "blockbuster" infecting movie screens around the world, I really must get this off of my chest.

Most citizens of this nation are without a doubt addicted to wars and war "heroes" without stopping for more than a few cursory seconds to count the costs or evaluate the propaganda. I despair that a movie like grossed over 105 million at the box office over the weekend where we are supposed to be commemorating the birth of a man of peace, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Everything in American Sniper is taken for fact when the author and focus Chris Kyle already had been proven to have been a blowhard and a liar, when the facts and political motivations ofSelma are being questioned.

As is the US addicted to its wars, it is also addicted to lying about them and I know this because I have my own case about Casey for proof. We got the news about Casey about 14 hours or so after his detail had been ambushed in Iraq. After I lie on the floor screaming for I don't know how long, the three emissaries of death couldn't really tell us much except that he was Killed In Action (KIA) - I still can't see a KIA brand car without my heart sinking.

Since Casey's murder, I have found out so much about the US military I had no idea about, but when a group of troops (Battalion? Unit? Army? Murder?) get deployed to combat, some stay back as "Funeral Duty." Two such persons came to Casey's funeral and regaled us with stories about what a wonderful mechanic he was and how he had "volunteered" to go on the mission that killed him. Even though neither story rang true to me, I absorbed them like a dry sponge (as I was from all the tears I shed) wanting to hang on to some news of my son because he had only been there in Iraq a few days before he was killed. We didn't even know he was stationed at Camp War Eagle right in the heart of Sadr City, Baghdad.

Casey had joined the Army in the year 2000 for college benefits and with the promise from his lying recruiter that he could be a Chaplain's Assistant. I knew from our many conversations that Casey hated being a Humvee mechanic, but that was the only MOS (military job) available when he got to boot camp.

Also, the very final time he was home (oh, how I wish I knew for sure it was the final time, I would have carried out my half-joking threat to run him with my car just enough to disable him) at Christmas of 2003, he told everyone he was just going to "do his job" and come home safely because, as a Christian and gentle man, he could "never kill anyone." All of this didn't jibe at all with Casey "volunteering."

By drips and drabs, the truth came out. Much has been written with the Imperial spin about 04/04/04 in Sadr City - about how the First Cavalry (Casey's unit, or whatever) was attacked by the residents of Sadr City, but from unembedded journalists we have found out that the 1st Cav went out to provoke a response to show the residents who was "in charge now." April 4th was also right after the mercenaries of Blackwater had provoked the residents of Fallujah into an uprising that resulted in the highly publicized deaths of several mercenaries.

Four years after Casey died, I received an email from one of his buddies who was right next to him on that fateful evening. The vet started his email with, "Sheehan was a great guy, but he was a lousy mechanic." Which made me smile, because it rang true, but then he delivered the coup de gras:

"I don't know why you keep telling everyone it was Bush's fault, it was Sgt. (Name withheld by me)'s fault. He made your son go on that mission and in fact told him to 'get your goddamn ass on that truck' after Sheehan had said, 'no, I am not going, I am only a mechanic.'"

Even though I sobbed when I read that, I knew it was true. Casey knew he could never kill anyone and to me he is far more of a hero for not wanting to kill than is Chris Kyle for his self-proclaimed "more than 250" murders of what he called "savages."

How much courage does it really take for a sniper to be given co-ordinates from a spotter and then firing from hundreds of yards away? To me that is the definition of cowardice even forgetting about the lies that got both Casey and Kyle to Iraq and the ones who made billions in profits while Casey died thousands of miles away from his loving home and a vet with PTSD would ironically end up murdering Kyle back here in the states.

I will always be proud of my son who is a grand hero to me for refusing orders in the heat of battle and ashamed by a cold-blooded killer like Kyle and a nation that lifts him up as the standard of heroism. I find it supremely ironic and sad that NOT being a killer is frowned upon here while being a happy killer makes one a best-selling author and garners all kinds of award nominations and ticket sales for those who wish to exploit this nation's bloodlust. This truly makes me wonder if there is any hope to end the evil of US empire, or are we doomed to "wash, rinse, and repeat" these stories of infamy and tragedy over and over again until the USA collapses from the weight of all the carnage.

Amazing images reveal a glowing blue sea in Hong Kong

This Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 photo made with a long exposure shows the glow from a Noctiluca scintillans algal bloom along the seashore in Hong Kong.

Eerie fluorescent blue patches of water glimmering off Hong Kong's seashore are magnificent, but disturbing and potentially toxic, marine biologists say.

The glow is an indicator of a harmful algal bloom created by something called , nicknamed Sea Sparkle.

It looks like algae and can act like algae, but is in fact a single-celled organism that technically can function as both animal and plant.

These type blooms are triggered by farm pollution that can be devastating to marine life and local fisheries, according to University of Georgia oceanographer Samantha Joye, who was shown Associated Press photos of the glowing water.

Which countries benefit most from Paris shootings?

Psychos pretending to care

The scale of the events in France and the intensity of the ensuing panic turned out to be so massive that even the most politically unprepared people realized that the stability of EU is facing an enormous threat. And it doesn't even matter if the French authorities are successful in neutralizing the current situation - it may repeat on a much larger scale. It is impossible to stop this process within the framework of the modern "tolerant democracy" - placing well armed professional security units in front of every building in every city is simply not an option and everything else would be ineffective. An honest assessment of risks associated with similar events, even just in terms of insurance claims, will show that the entire economy is at risk of going down the drain. And I am talking about world-wide economy. Since I have written here a forecast that, among other things, contains some information about year 2015, I am obliged to add some commentary. The first question that begs an answer is: who stands to profit?

Here I will simply list possible beneficiaries. First choice - the US. The authorities in that country realized that the influence of opposition elites (the ones I wrote about in my forecast) is increasing so much that it is not only jeopardizing the agreements around the Trans Atlantic Free Trade Area (TAFTA), but also becoming a threat to the pro-American elites' hold on power in Europe. Orban in Hungary, Zeman in Czech Republic, Marin Le Pen in France... All of these represent very negative processes for the US. Therefore, the situation must be blown up, "democracy" must be tucked away and a strict dictatorship must be established. A pro-American dictatorship that is, which will thoughtlessly follow orders from Washington without the need to engage in any kind of "democratic" procedures. In other words, install "pinochets" in every EU country complete with all the "bells and whistles" that always accompany these types of regimes: "death squadrons", rollback of all social security standards, removal of state regulations - that is total liberalization. And, of course, along with these developments a free trade area with the US will be established. By the way, the refusal by French authorities to allow "Front populaire" to participate in the "unity march" fits the above scenario very neatly - what kind of "democracy" and "unity" is this when a quarter of the native French (!) population is being rudely shoved aside.

I also would like to note that within the US elite there are several groups each of them having their own channels which could be used to stimulate and organize terrorist attacks that will fit their agenda. Each group has their own partners (British Windsors, world financial elites, China and many others), as well as their own interests, and all of this requires a very detailed and thorough analysis.

Second possibility - Britain (or, to be more specific, the House of Windsor). They might be worried about a scenario where Merkel will completely give in to US pressure and push Brussels to sign the TAFTA agreement, which will put an end to the idea of creating alternative non-dollar currency zones and will force the British financial system ("rothschilds") to lose control over interzonal transactions. Which basically means that a more or less independent British financial system will cease to exist, just as London will lose its status as a world financial center.

Third possibility - continental European elites ("black internationale", or the Vatican - in conspirological terms). For them, TAFTA is a catastrophe, and they have already gained enough influence to try and bring nationally oriented opposition elites to power. Once the number of EU countries where this handover of power happens passes a critical threshold, pro-American elites in Brussels would be forced out and the EU as we know it will be finished. It is possible that the ideas of Franco-German-Russian domination in Europe play a certain role in this scenario. Within imperial, and not liberal-democratic framework, of course.

Fourth possibility - Germany. They could have gotten anxious that Hollande will back out (of plans previously coordinated with Merkel) under the threat of losing power and they created a situation that allows to "tighten the screws" and substantially limit the influence and capabilities of the anti-American group led by Le Pen.

Fifth possibility is the one that is currently being "fed" to the masses, which is what makes it the least probable. This version implies that islamists are behind the attack - ISIS, "Al Qaeda", etc. It has its own intricacies because wherever we see a mention of "Al Qaeda", we must also look for traces of CIA and British intelligence involvement. "Al Qaeda" does not have enough power and resources to carry out such an attack independently, without outside help.

Sixth possibility - Saudi Arabia. Today it is taking a serious hit and it must find a way to survive. A number of scenarios which are being developed by US imply liquidation of the Saudi state with the ultimate goal of creating a Sunni caliphate, which would subsequently be used in an attack on Israel and Iran. These scenarios must be prevented. The easiest way is to tie up US resources on as many fronts as possible, forcing them to abandon the plans to remove Saudis from power. Israel is helping Saudis in this situation, but keeping a low profile.

Seventh possibility - us (Russia). Having failed to persuade Merkel to drop sanctions and realizing that she is firmly under US control, we decided to "blow up" EU. And started with France as it appears to be the first major European country ready to leave the US confrontation scheme against Russia. This gives Hollande an alibi and support for his anti-American actions ("What can we do, - he will tell Obama, - you didn't help, while Russia is supporting us"), and so on. It is also possible that we already have agreements with some of the parties mentioned above.

And the eights possibility, as we are moving further East - is China. This would mean that the attack was a "blowback" for Ukraine and other actions directed against the new Silk Road. In other words, it would imply China's entry into the big political "game" on a world-wide scale.

Theoretically all of the above mentioned possibilities are still not out of the question. As time goes by, more and more information will become available and the picture will become clearer, but we need to pay close attention. Many of the mentioned parties have their own ideological agendas, which were symbolically presented to the public during the last two days. The symbols included candles (for some reason no one in EU lighted candles to commemorate victims in Donbass, Odessa or Mariupol even though all of these places are also located in Europe and there are more people dying there every day, than in France), flowers, staged "unity marches" that reeked of fakeness so badly that one must wonder why it was impossible to prepare better!

Here is Russia things are starting to move as well - just look at the bickering between Venediktov and Kadyrov! However, I still don't see any constructive course of action being undertaken, but it is possible that it will never happen - because there is no one to implement such a course of action. By the way, I found Khodorkovsky's statement very indicative of what is happening here right now. He was clearly used to provoke the public and this distinctly showed that he is not an independent political figure. Furthermore, those who are using him are obviously no longer considering him a valuable asset.

UN saw Israeli drones over Syrian ceasefire line before airstrikes killed Hezbollah commanders, Iranian general

The United Nations has condemned Israel for flying unmanned drones over the ceasefire line inside Syria, before an airstrike killed senior Hezbollah commanders and an Iranian general on Sunday.

This comes after an air raid allegedly carried out by Israel killed six members of Lebanon's Shiite Hezbollah group as well as a senior commander of Iran's revolutionary guards' corps (IRGC), Mohammad Ali Allahdadi (or Dadi).

The airstrike took place in Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, when it hit a convoy carrying Jihad Moughniyah, son of Imad Moughniyah ( who was slain in a 2008 bombing, which was also blamed on Israel) and commander Mohamad Issa, according to a statement issued by Hezbollah.

The United Nations peace-keepers based around the area reported seeing the drones on Sunday flying from the direction of Israel.

They "observed two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying from the Alpha side and crossing the ceasefire line," UN spokesman Farhan Haq said according to Reuters. "Alpha" means the Israeli side of the border.

"This incident is a violation of the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement between Israeli and Syrian forces," Haq added.

Although Israel has admitted to have carried out the strike, it has claimed that helicopters were used.

Syrian state television said six people were killed in the attack and a child was wounded, without giving further details.

Hezbollah's media wing Al Manar TV cited Hezbollah's statement, which said that "several of its fighters were martyred" in the operation.

The Shi'a Muslim Hezbollah - a group supported by Iran and which fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006 - has been fighting alongside the force of Syrian president Basar al-Assad in Syria.

Seven kids removed from Arkansas family's home over use of bogus 'miracle' cure

Stanley children

Authorities removed seven homeschooled children from an Arkansas "prepper" family during a search for a bogus "miracle" cure their father uses.

State troopers and Garland County authorities executed a search warrant Jan. 12 at the home of Hal and Michelle Stanley, and their school-age children were taken by ambulance for a medical examination after officers found containers marked "MMS."

Miracle Mineral Solution is touted as a miracle cure for cancer, AIDS, malaria, and possibly Ebola, but the Food and Drug Administration said the substance can be turned into a potent bleach and cause serious health issues if ingested.

Users say they can tell the substance is working if they become nauseated - which the FDA argues will happen if it's used as directed.

"The product, when used as directed, produces an industrial bleach that can cause serious harm to health," the FDA warns. "The product instructs consumers to mix the 28 percent sodium chlorite solution with an acid such as citrus juice. This mixture produces chlorine dioxide, a potent bleach used for stripping textiles and industrial water treatment. High oral doses of this bleach, such as those recommended in the labeling, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration."

Health officials have warned that it could cause more serious health issues, including death, if the product is not sufficiently diluted.

MMS was developed and promoted by Jim Humble, who claims he can heal by touch and quit Scientology to form his own church to help promote his so-called miracle cure in Africa and Mexico.

Humble claims MMS has been used by the Red Cross in Africa, and he claims to have run clinical trials on the substance at a prison in Malawi.

Hal Stanley, a pastor and Tea Party speaker, insisted he does not administer MMS to his children, but he admits to taking the mineral substance and using it to purify water in his garden - which the family uses as a primary source of food.

Michelle Stanley said an anonymous caller reported last month that the couple's children were running around barefoot in the winter cold, but she explained to police that they had shoes but liked to go outside to photograph their footprints in the snow.

But law enforcement returned last week with a search warrant and questioned the couple about MMS.

"After stepping outside they issued us a search warrant and said we could not enter our house or talk to our kids until the search and the investigation was through," Michelle Stanley said. "They said the charge was that we had a poisonous substance in our house and that the kids were being exposed to it and it endangered their welfare."

The Department of Human Services ordered the children removed from their home for 72 hours, but that has been extended to more than a week.

The Stanleys, who also have two grown children who attend college elsewhere, were allowed to visit Saturday with their children.

DHS filed its report Friday, which the Stanleys said focused entirely on MMS as the reason the children were removed and had nothing to do with their homeschooling.

Michelle Stanley denied Saturday in a Facebook post that the children had taken the substance, saying she and her husband "would never do anything knowingly to hurt any of our children."

But she appeared to qualify her denial in remarks published Monday to World Net Daily.

"Never has it been used in any way to 'poison' our kids or even expose them in such a way as to endanger their lives," Michelle Stanley said.

The DHS is not required to tell parents who lodged accusations of abuse or neglect, but the department must issue a report detailing the claims and then work with families to ensure their children's needs are met.

Court action may be taken to ensure parents or guardians properly care for children in the care.

The Stanleys did not list the specific allegations made against them about MMS and their children's exposure to the substance, but they plan to dispute the claims in a court hearing - although Michelle Stanley admits the negative information authorities have gathered about MMS has "hurt our stand in court."

The Arkansas statute on child endangerment lists "extreme or repeated cruelty" to children among possible violations, and it also includes prohibitions against intentional or non-justifiable conduct that causes physical abuse or the threat of death or permanent impairment.

DHS and law enforcement agencies declined media requests for comment and have not indicated whether the Stanleys could face criminal charges.

The Stanleys have said they would give up their MMS to have their children returned, but the product's proponents insist it's no more dangerous than other commercially available drugs approved by the FDA.

"This stuff is a game changer, I have taken it for several years now and illness is a thing of the past," says one Amazon reviewer. "Thumb your nose at the FDA and big Pharma. Believe this bookand all Jim Humble has to say. You don't need your doctors permission to be healthy."

How the US government convinces a newspaper to kill a story

Govt. censorship

© Unknown

Under President George W. Bush, the White House urged reporters to withhold accounts about many of the most contentious aspects in the war on terrorism: the existence of a secret prison in Thailand, the Central Intelligence Agency's interrogation and detention program, warrantless wiretapping and government monitoring of financial transactions.

The Obama administration has persuaded reporters to delay publishing the existence of a drone base in Saudi Arabia, the name of a country in which a drone strike against an American citizen was being considered, the fact that a diplomat arrested in Pakistan was a C.I.A. officer and that an American businessman was working for the agency when he disappeared in Iran.

- From the article: Condoleezza Rice Testifies on Urging The Times to Not Run Article

The timidness with which mainstream media in the U.S. approaches news has been well documented. In fact, the inability of traditional media to do a reasonable job of holding powerful interests accountable has been one of the primary drivers behind the ascendency of alternative news. Despite this reality, one thing we know less about is specifically how the power structure goes about suppressing news it doesn't want reaching the plebs. Until now.

Ironically, the reported on its own prior inability to report the news:

WASHINGTON - White House officials favor two primary tactics when they want to kill a news article, Condoleezza Rice, the former national security adviser, testified Thursday: They can essentially confirm the report by arguing that it is too important to national security to be published, or they can say that the reporter has it wrong.

Sitting across from a reporter and editor from The New York Times in early 2003, Ms. Rice said, she tried both.

Yes indeed. When it comes to censoring the news, the U.S. government will do "whatever it takes."

Testifying in the leak trial of Jeffrey Sterling , a former C.I.A. officer, Ms. Rice described how the White House successfully persuaded Times editors not to publish an article about a secret operation to disrupt Iran's nuclear program. James Risen, a reporter, ultimately revealed the program in his 2006 book, "" and said that the C.I.A. had botched the operation. Prosecutors used Ms. Rice's testimony to bolster their case that the leak to Mr. Risen had harmed national security.

Ms. Rice's account also threw a light on how the government pressures journalists to avoid publishing details about United States security affairs. It is a common practice that is seldom discussed.

Makes you wonder, who isn't working for the C.I.A. at this point?

According to notes of the White House meeting, George J. Tenet, the C.I.A. director at the time, told Mr. Risen and his editor, Jill Abramson, that the program was not mismanaged and that Iran had not discovered the design flaw. The C.I.A. prepared talking points for Ms. Rice that said that revealing the program would not only jeopardize the former Russian scientist - who had become an American citizen - but "conceivably contribute to the deaths of millions of innocent victims" in the event of an Iranian nuclear attack. Ms. Rice said she urged The Times to destroy any documents or notes about the program.

This is quite the shocker. Who would ever suspect a key proponent of the Iraq War to dabble in such outlandish hyperbole.

The Times ultimately did not run the article. Ms. Abramson, who was the Washington bureau chief at the time, said recently that she regretted not pushing to publish it. Told about Ms. Rice's testimony, Ms. Abramson said in an email on Thursday that the trial "seems anticlimactic and pointless."

The only question is, what are they "choosing not to publish" in 2015?
