Russian Navy Su-24 jets forced US Navy destroyer USS Ross to go into neutral waters in the Black Sea, a source in Crimea's security forces told .

The US Navy ship was noticed heading directly toward Russian waters after leaving the Romanian port of Costanta. The incident comes on the same day as fugitive Georgian ex-leader Mikheil Saakashvili's appointment as governor of Ukraine's Black Sea-bordering Odessa region.

"The ship's crew acted provocatively and aggressively, which caused alarm among operators of monitoring stations and Black Sea Fleet ships carrying out assignments in the Black Sea. Scrambled Su-24 attack jets demonstrated a readiness to forcibly suppress border violations and defend the country's interest," the source said.

According to the source, Russian Black Sea Navy ships are constantly monitoring Russian territorial waters and are ready to suppress any violations.

"It seems that the Americans did not forget the April 2014 incident when one Su-24 actually shut down all equipment on the new USS Donald Cook American destroyer with anti-missile system elements," the source added.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said that US missile ships near Russian borders pose a danger to strategic stability on Saturday, while at the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore.

Strong 7.8 quake strikes off Japan's remote Bonin Islands

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the ocean off Japan's remote Bonin Islands at 11:23 GMT on Saturday, USGS reports. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage, nor any tsunami alert.

The populated area closest to the quake's epicenter is the Japanese island of Chichi-Shima with a population of about 2,000 people. It is 189 kilometers from the impact point.

The quake hit at a profound depth of almost 677 kilometers below the ocean bed. The Japan Meteorological Agency said there was no danger of a tsunami. The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center also issued a statement saying "a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii."
Tremors are being felt as far as Tokyo, 870 kilometers from the epicenter, witnesses report. Videos and photos they posted on social media show shaking walls and goods toppling from shop shelves.

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the operator of the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant, said the earthquake did not affect the facility. TEPCO is currently cleaning up the consequences of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which damaged Fukushima's reactors and cased a meltdown and a radioactive spill.

Yellow journalism, Western political psychopaths and Russia-hating behind FIFA 'scandal'

Blatter: targeted for consorting with the enemy

Try and find any public information that shows that Sepp Blatter is guilty of any of the charges of fraud or corruption that have ever brought against him. You won't find it. The only thing Blatter seems to have been "found guilty of" is "political correctness", aka crimes against Western, liberal, capitalist, secular, atheist, war-loving culture.

For example, Blatter advised gay football fans planning to go to Qatar - a brutal dictatorship supported by the West and ruled by Sharia law, where homosexuality carries the death penalty - to "refrain" while there. That's pretty good advice in my opinion.

Blatter also allegedly suggested that women footballers dress in a more feminine way to improve attendance rates. While that carries more than a hint of sexism and misogynism, this is sound business advice in this capitalist, sex-obsessed, free market driven, morality-free, money-is-all-that-matters Western world.

As to his "bizarre winner's speech"; on what basis can this be considered "bizarre" when compared to the paramoralistic verbiage regularly spewed by the average Western politician. Blatter says "we need more women in FIFA" - just like every goddam political party leader in the Western world. He also mentioned god. How exactly is that bizarre when 2/3 of the global population believes in some kind of god? But I forget, he is being targeted by the liberal, godless, materialism-worshipping and warmongering West. No god here please, unless he support war and genocide.

In mentioning god, Blatter was obviously playing to his support base. His support base is mostly made up of the countries that the US and EU love to exploit and keep subservient. Blatter was therefore guilty of the ideological crime of giving African countries an equal vote and say in the running of FIFA. In other words, he did exactly what our own Western and British governments steadfastly refuse to do - give ordinary people .

And let's look at the Western media claim that the Blatter's win in the election "demonstrated the huge divisions at the congress". The result of the vote was 133 votes to 73. i.e. Blatter got almost 65%, an almost 2/3 majority, yet this is touted by the scurrilous Western media as "huge division". In the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron recently 'won' the general election with a 'majority government' with less than 25% of the national vote, and with the approval of just 1/3 of those who voted! Yet Cameron repeatedly declares that obvious statistical lie that he has been given a "clear mandate."

Equally risible is the hysteria over all these "bribes" for this or that "exclusive commercial right". Just substitute the word "fee" for "bribe" for those exclusive rights and you have Western capitalist business as usual. What utter hypocrisy to condemn Sepp Blatter for doing what every other big wig in the West is doing! - i.e. filling their boots, lining their own pockets and abusing their office at public expense.

The staggering hypocrisy of the Western elite knows no bounds, and the involvement of the FBI is the bizarre element in this whole affair. The USA is barely even a football nation and FIFA is a world body, not subject to any national jurisdiction. The chances that, before this week, most members of the US Department of Justice had never even heard of FIFA are pretty high. But it all begins to make sense when you understand the real motivation for these indictments.

Mr Blatter's only real "crime" is that FIFA, not Blatter, awarded the 2018 World Cup to Russia, the bane of the anglo-American empire. Qatar is thrown into the mix as a cover for what is clearly an attack on Russia. Public opinion is rightly scandalized by the awarding of the 2022 world cup to that human-trafficking, slave trading cesspit of a British and American client regime, but make no mistake, Qatar is not the real target. Russia is. While Blatter has been reelected, don't expect this 'scandal' to go away, because the US government isn't about to drop the ball in its ongoing campaign to destroy Putin's Russia.

UK Day of rage: Thousands to protest Tory austerity, Islamophobia & Human Rights Act repeal

© Reuters/Neil Hall

Thousands of people are expected to attend numerous protests in the capital on Saturday to demonstrate against further planned cuts to welfare, the scrapping of the Human Rights Act and discrimination against the Islamic community.

Nearly 10,000 have said they are attending two separate rallies in London - the first organized by UK Uncut, which campaigns against cuts to welfare, and the second by individual campaigners who want to reverse proposals from "

The event description from UK Uncut claims the £12 billion in planned spending cuts "

"The Tories are planning to cut another £12 billion, on top of the £25 billion they've already cut. Let's come together to tell the government we won't let them crush our public services with a further £12 billion of CATASTROPHIC cuts!"

[embedded content]

"The cuts are a political choice, not an economic necessity. This government wants to destroy the welfare state and privatize our vital public services. Austerity is just an excuse to transfer public services into private hands, to protect the rich and punish the poor," it adds.

The new government has already faced civil unrest since May's general election, which saw the Tories narrowly edge a majority government.

On Wednesday, as the Queen officially opened parliament, demonstrators gathered in Trafalgar Square and marched through Westminster to protest further austerity measures.

Amid scuffles during the mostly peaceful demonstration, UKIP MP Douglas Carswell was pounced upon by protesters and forced to seek the protection of a police escort to ensure he made it safely through the crowds.

The second protest taking place is predominantly in opposition to the repeal of the Human Rights Act (HRA), amongst other perceived civil injustices.

Scene's from Wednesday's protest:

The event description reads: "

To repeal the Human Rights Act!

government that is hell-bent on destroying civil liberties.

carte blanche towards arbitrary stop and search against young black men.

abuse and institutional discrimination against the Islamic community for the sake of 'national security,'" it adds.

Prime Minister David Cameron appeared to falter on the issue of the HRA repeal during the Queen's Speech, where the British Bill of Rights - intended to replace the HRA - was announced as a 'proposal' rather than a concrete measure, the crucial wording implying more debates will take place before the bill is put forward.

The Prime Minister is also facing a rebellion on the issue from Tory backbenchers, and there are fears it may produce cracks within the party.

The protests are due to take place from 13:00 BST on Saturday.

Comment: Despite the pro-austerity rhetoric from Westminster, we are not "all in this together". In Britain today, the richest are 105 times better off than the poorest in society. It is the "European capital of inequality", worse even than the United States! Studies show that these obscene, unnecessarily harsh austerity measures are having devastating repercussions among those most vulnerable, as people go hungry, forcing dependency on food banks.

Prime Minister, David Cameron, recently told MP's that he 'will not waste a single moment with getting on with the task' of reshaping Britain, and of 'building something special'. More people are beginning to see just what sort of psychopathic, chaotic, elitist reality he wants to create!

You can't always get what NATO wants

© AFP 2015/Joshua Roberts
US Secretary of State John Kerry (2nd R) meets with Russia's President Vladimir Putin (2nd L) at the presidential residence Bocharov Ruchey in Sochi.

The meat of the matter in the by now legendary May 12 meeting in the Kremlin between President Putin and US Secretary of State John Kerry is that, after a relentless torrent of US demonization of Russia, a deal - of sorts - may have been reached. Needless to add, no official source, in either Washington or Moscow, will confirm it.

Geopolitical imperatives lead us to think that Kerry - a de facto mere messenger of the real Masters of the Universe in the Beltway — asked Putin for "help" in the former, American-launched "Greater Middle East", and to facilitate the clinching of the possibly imminent P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran.

And Putin told Kerry that was a deal as long as the hysteria over Ukraine was immediately defused.

There is no hard evidence - yet - that Washington is prepared to finally admit, even tangentially, to its monumental geopolitical bungling in Ukraine; the lightning-fast deepening of the Russia-China strategic partnership is just one of the key consequences. End of sanctions would be a first fact on the (Eurasian) ground.

Instead, for the moment we have the usual NATO warmongering —remixed.

"He's a Gambler"!

General Hans-Lothar Domröse, NATO Commander of the Brunssum Allied Joint Force Command, is convinced Russia is a "threat"; Putin is a "dangerous gambler"; and Russians "consider it possible to use tactical nuclear weapons as a way of waging a war. We [NATO] - do not."

Herr General is, of course, lying - on both counts (that Moscow wants to use nuclear weapons, and that NATO wouldn't). At least he was forced to admit NATO does not view Russia as an enemy, but as a potential "threat".

The narrative remains - monotonously — the same. Earlier this month, NATO bigwig General Philip Breedlove - rather, Breedhate — accused Russia of making "irresponsible" nuclear threats. Additionally, Breedhate never misses the opportunity to coin a sound bite accusing Russia of launching the proverbial "offense" in Donbass and "violating" Minsk-2 - when in fact any offense and/or violation comes from Kiev.

NATO General Secretary, toothless Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg, also never skips the "Russia will use nuclear weapons" bandwagon. He insists NATO's missile defense system does not target Russia (not true) and that NATO does not want confrontation (not true).

All this nuclear weapon mess is based on the Director of Non-proliferation and Control of Weapons Department of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mikhail Ulyanov, saying during a review conference dedicated to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, that what Washington is cooking might - and the operative concept is "might" — lead Moscow to decide to build up its nuclear arsenal.

The fact that Ulyanov was quick to add Moscow is not going to do it - yet - inevitably was lost in translation.

The fact also remains that while the US/Pentagon/NATO talk — or huff and puff — Moscow silently gets ready to protect Russian territory from anything the US military may throw at it, including Prompt Global Strike (PGS).

And whatever NATO's maneuvers, Russia responds in kind, usually via surprise military drills. If NATO launches its biggest ever war game right on Russia's borders - talk about a provocation - Moscow counterpunches with war games in the Mediterranean in close coordination with the People's Liberation Army. Yet one more instance of the all-weather Russia-China strategic partnership.

Nuclear Summer, Anyone?

Inevitably, the warmongering, via the Pentagon, had to extend to China. And the Global Times - certainly echoing the predominant PLA view — responded in kind, warning that "war is inevitable" if Washington doesn't stop demanding that Beijing ceases with building artificial islands in the South China Sea.

Cue to yet another avid rumor-mongering mill, as usual turbo-capitalism suspects of the George Soros variety fan the hysteria flames of imminent war, even wondering how many nations of the fragmented "West" Washington would be able to regiment for a war not only against Russia but also... China.

And all this while NATO's American generals cannot even convince member-nations to spend 2% of their GDP on defense.

Cue also to a tweet by John Schindler, former NSA and former professor at the US Naval War College, duly magnified by the rumor-mongering mill. Schindler claimed that a senior NATO operative (not American), told him, "We'll probably be at war this summer. If we're lucky it won't be nuclear."

So those Dr. Strangeloves in Brussels, instead of sun and fun in the Costa Brava, are "preparing" for a Brave Nuclear Summer.

Those were the days when a direct infringement of the exceptionalist dictum — "if we don't like you, we bomb you" — was a done deal. What's left for NATO's Breedhaters is just a Mare Nostrum of fear mongering.

VIDEO: The worst place to be during a dollar collapse

Image

Ironically, the places that benefited the most from the debt-and-death paradigm are likely to see the quickest outbreak of chaos when dollar collapse begins in earnest. The concentrated aggression, hyper-competitive atmosphere, and wealth disparity of the typical city should be avoided if possible. Recent riots serve as a clear example of what can happen ... and the lights are still on and the financial infrastructure is still in place. In a full-blown dollar collapse, all bets are off. So, think about moving to "boring" parts of the country with real communities. Do it on your terms while options still remain.

Fugitive Saakashvili nominated as governor of Ukraine's Odessa region

© Reuters/David Mdzinarishvili

The Ukrainian cabinet of ministers has nominated the former president of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili, who has been placed on an international wanted list in his own country, as the governor of Ukraine's coastal Odessa region.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was set to meet Saakashvili on Friday to approve his candidacy for the post before officially announcing the appointment, according to the presidential press-secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko.

The fugitive Georgian leader has already been granted Ukrainian citizenship, which makes him legally eligible for the post, according to Ukrainian journalist-turned-MP Sergey Leshchenko, who also confirmed Saakashvili's appointment as Odessa governor.

Saakashvili has been a long-standing supporter of the current Ukrainian authorities ever since they ended up heading the coup that eventually toppled the previous administration in February 2014. Earlier in May he was appointed to President Poroshenko's advisory council on reform, along with the hawkish anti-Russian US Senator John McCain who chose to decline the offer.

There were reports that Saakashvili was already appointed to the post, published by the Ukrinform agency, citing two unnamed sources in the administration, and confirmed by Interfax Ukraine, but no official confirmation had been released. But since Ukraine's cabinet of ministers allegedly nominated Saakashvili as per Poroshenko's own recommendation, it was a virtually done deal.

Saakashvili will become Odessa's governor with "99 percent probability," the deputy head of the Ukrainian president's administration, Valery Chaly told (UNN), stressing he was speaking as an "analyst," not presidential representative.

Meanwhile Saakashvili himself said on Twitter that he "loves Odessa," without elaborating further.

The official announcement on Saakashvili's appointment as the man in charge of Ukraine's strategic Odessa region is widely expected on Saturday.
