Surprised? Emails reveal Idaho ag-gag bill was drafted by dairy lobby

Dairy industry lobbyists in Idaho helped write legislation that makes it illegal to take photographs or record videos at agricultural facilities, acts which in the past have exposed animal cruelty and unsanitary practices.

Farming groups in multiple states have thrown their support behind the criminalization of recording. But in Idaho, which passed an "ag-gag" law last year, lobbyists actually crafted the bill before handing it off to lawmakers, according to emails obtained by .

From : "State Sen. Jim Patrick, R-Twin Falls, said he sponsored the bill in response to an activist-filmed undercover video that showed cows at an Idaho plant being beaten by workers, dragged by the neck with chains, and forced to live in pens covered in feces, which activists said made the cows slip, fall and injure themselves. The facility, Bettencourt Dairies, is a major supplier for Burger King and Kraft. The workers who were filmed were fired."

Idaho is one of the country's top three dairy producers and the industry generates $2.5 billion every year in the state.

Patrick thinks the abuse in the Bettencourt video was set up by the undercover employee. Regardless, his bill was signed into law by Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter on February 28, 2014, just two weeks after it was introduced.

Violators of the law, those who surreptitiously enter and record agricultural operations, face up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Dan Steenson, a registered lobbyist for the Idaho Dairymen's Association, a trade group for the industry, testified in support of the ag-gag bill, clearly disclosing his relationship with the trade group. But emails obtained by show that Steenson also helped draft the bill.

On January 30, 2014, before Senator Patrick's bill was formally introduced, Steenson emailed Bob Naerebout, another Dairymen lobbyist, and Brian Kane, the assistant chief deputy of the state attorney general's office, with a copy of the legislation.

"The attached draft incorporates the suggestions you gave us this morning," Steenson wrote, thanking Kane for his help in reviewing the bill.

Kane responded with "one minor addition" to the legislation, which he described to Steenson as "your draft."

The draft text of the legislation emailed by Steenson closely resembles the bill signed into law.

"Dan and the Idaho dairymen had a large input but also Idaho Farm Bureau as well as Idaho-eastern seed growers," Patrick said in an email to . "This was not about only dairy so but all of agriculture since all farms have risks of distorted facts. We only want the whole truth to be told not just a few social media sites."

The law made Idaho the seventh state to pass an "ag-gag" law. This week, North Carolina may become the next state to do so.

The American Civil Liberties Union and other plaintiffs, however, filed a federal suit against the Idaho law, claiming some of its language is unconstitutional. Both sides are awaiting a ruling from US District Judge Lynn Winmill.

'UFO clouds' form in wake of Texas storms

'UFO' Lenticular clouds over central Texas.

Weird weather left strange signs in the Texas sky after giant storms rolled through. Red-tinted disk-shaped clouds twirled atop dark flat bases and drew groups of dazzled gazers in Robertson County, just north of College Station.

As the images crawled across the web, tweeters sounded the obvious alarm: the UFOs arrived. Or, as one user put it, "It's happening."

But scientists swiftly jumped in to dispel the internet buzz. The heavenly apparitions were but rare "lenticular clouds," various meteorologists declared on social media. Even in the absence of extraterrestrial pilots hidden in the shroud, the clouds are impressive.

Lenticular (which can mean "resembling the seed of a lentil") clouds are produced by a perfect combination of conditions rarely found in Texas. Usually they appear when warm humid air is thrust rapidly up mountainsides into cooler regions of the sky where vapor condenses into a fog.

But without mountains, they're not common for Central Texas. A meteorologist with ABC30 News estimated Monday night's massive storms left behind a mass of cool air that acted like a mountain. Muggier currents ended up caught in twisting winds in the sky.

And viola: strange clouds resembling what alien spaceships might probably look like, maybe.

Still on Twitter the sky formations are known as the "UFO clouds." But unfortunately for the eager enthusiasts, it isn't happening yet.

Comment: Texas has been undergoing massive floods and numerous tornadoes. These out of place clouds are indicative of just how volatile the weather has become and is a telltale sign that massive changes are taking place with the earth's weather. Increased earthquakes, volcanoes popping off left and right, and massive floods not only in Texas, but also in China and Alaska. Are you paying attention yet?

The manufacturing of ISIS for Washington's "New Middle East"

Libyan Terrorists in Syria

Newly disclosed Pentagon documents prove what we've known for a while now: the Obama administration knew as early as 2012 that weapons were being sent from Benghazi, Libya, to rebels in Syria.

The U.S. government also knew at the time that:

"the Salafist, the Muslim Brotherhood, and [Al Qaeda in Iraq were] the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria."

But did they just "know" or was it part of the plan?

These official documents of the Obama administration add to the large amount of evidence proving that the actual chaos and havoc wreaked by extremist groups in the Middle East was deliberately created by the U.S. and its allies and is not the result of a "failed foreign policy".

Judicial Watch recently revealed:

The DoD documents also contain the first official documentation that the Obama administration knew that weapons were being shipped from the Port of Benghazi to rebel troops in Syria. An October 2012 report confirms:

Weapons from the former Libya military stockpiles were shipped from the port of Benghazi, Libya to the Port of Banias and the Port of Borj Islam, Syria. The weapons shipped during late-August 2012 were Sniper rifles, RPG's, and 125 mm and 155mm howitzers missiles.

During the immediate aftermath of, and following the uncertainty caused by, the downfall of the ((Qaddafi)) regime in October 2011 and up until early September of 2012, weapons from the former Libya military stockpiles located in Benghazi, Libya were shipped from the port of Benghazi, Libya to the ports of Banias and the Port of Borj Islam, Syria. The Syrian ports were chosen due to the small amount of cargo traffic transiting these two ports. The ships used to transport the weapons were medium-sized and able to hold 10 or less shipping containers of cargo.

...

The heavily redacted document does not disclose who was shipping the weapons. (Benghazi Scandal: Obama Administration Knew Weapons Were Being Sent to Al-Qaeda in Syria, New Documents Show, Judicial Watch 18 May 2015)

Although the documents do not reveal who was responsible for sending weapons to Syria, it is quite obvious from the language used in the documents that it was a US initiative and the CIA presence in Benghazi at the time suggests that US intelligence was behind this gun-running operation.

Libyan Terrorists in Syria

On September 11, 2012, the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was attacked. Four people were killed, including the U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and two CIA officers.

In August 2013, Business Insider reported :

The Agency, for its part, doesn't want anyone knowing what it was doing in the Libyan port city.

On Thursday Drew Griffin and Kathleen Johnston of CNN reported that the CIA "is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret."

Sources told CNN that 35 Americans were in Benghazi that night — 21 of whom were working out of the annex — and that several were wounded, some seriously.

One source said: "You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation."

Among the questions are whether CIA missteps contributed to the security failure in Benghazi and, more importantly, whether the Agency's Benghazi operation had anything to do with reported heavy weapons shipments from the local port to Syrian rebels.

In short, the CIA operation is the most intriguing thing about Benghazi. (Michael B. Kelley and Geoffrey Ingersoll, Intrigue Surrounding The Secret CIA Operation In Benghazi Is Not Going Away, Business Insider, August 3, 2013)

Last January, the Citizens Commission on Benghazi concluded that the "Obama White House and the State Department under the management of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton 'changed sides in the war on terror' in 2011 by implementing a policy of facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-dominated rebel militias in Libya attempting to oust Moammar Gadhafi from power", WND reported.

WND added that

"several members of the commission have disclosed their finding that the mission of Christopher Stevens, prior to the fall of Gadhafi and during Stevens' time as U.S. ambassador, was the management of a secret gun-running program operated out of the Benghazi compound." (Jerome R. Corsi,Libya: U.S. Generals Conclude Obama Backed Al-Qaida and Operated a Secret Gun-Running Program in Benghazi, WND, January 20, 2015)

We've also known for several years that Western special operations forces were on the ground training rebels to fight against Assad.

In January 2012, Michel Chossudovsky reported:

Several articles in the British media confirm that British Special Forces are training Syrian rebels.

The underlying pattern is similar to that of Libya where British SAS were on the ground prior to the launching of NATO's military intervention.

A Responsibility to Protect (R2P) NATO intervention modelled on Libya is contemplated... The reports confirm that British military and intelligence operatives are already on the ground inside Syria. (Michel Chossudovsky, SYRIA: British Special Forces, CIA and MI6 Supporting Armed Insurgency. NATO Intervention Contemplated, Global Research, January 7, 2012)

Even CNN reported back in 2012 that rebels were being trained by defense contractors to handle chemical weapons:

The US and some of its European allies "are using defense contractors to train Syrian rebels on how to secure chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria," according to "a senior US official and several senior diplomats," CNN reports.

The US-funded training is going on inside Syria, as well as in neighboring Turkey and Jordan and "involves how to monitor and secure stockpiles and handle weapons sites and materials," according to CNN. US Defense Contractors Training Syrian Rebels to Handle Chemical Weapons

Bashar Al-Assad Is The Target
Image

The deadly chemical weapons were later used against Syrian soldiers and civilians. The U.S. government and the Western mainstream media tried to blame President Assad, but a UN investigation later concluded that it was the rebels who had used the chemical weapons.

Another official document from 2012 revealed by Judicial Watch indicates that the "growing sectarian direction of the war was predicted to have dire consequences for Iraq, which included the "grave danger" of the rise of ISIS:

This creates the ideal atmosphere for AQI [al Qaeda Iraq] to return to its old pockets in Mosul and Ramadi, and will provide a renewed momentum under the presumption of unifying the jihad among Sunni Iraq and Syria, and the rest of the Sunnis in the Arab world against what it considers one enemy, the dissenters. ISI could also declare an Islamic state through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria, which will create grave danger in regards to unifying Iraq and the protection of its territory. (Judicial Watch, op., cit.)

The U.S. did exactly what was needed to create "the ideal atmosphere" for Mosul and Ramadi to fall and for ISIS to declare an "Islamic state".

With the fall of Mosul last June, the recent fall of Ramadi in Iraq and numerous reports about the U.S. delivering weapons and ammunition to ISIS, the recently disclosed official documents show once more that the U.S. gun-running operation created "the ideal atmosphere" for Al Qaeda Iraq and "the rise of ISIS" in the region. The war against the so-called Islamic State can thus only be a flatout lie.

The following articles pertain to the U.S. delivery of weapons to ISIS while it was supposedly fighting it:

As a solution to the problem they created, with full knowledge of the consequences, the U.S. and its allies offered a military intervention with the stated intent of fighting the enemy they had created while covertly supporting it in order to sustain the war, for the greatest benefit of defense contractors and Israel, which has the a lot to gain in the dismantlement of neighboring states.

The purpose of this "constructive chaos" is nothing less than to redraw the map of the region and create a "New Middle East."

As Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya explained back in 2006:

The term "New Middle East" was introduced to the world in June 2006 in Tel Aviv by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (who was credited by the Western media for coining the term) in replacement of the older and more imposing term, the "Greater Middle East."

This shift in foreign policy phraseology coincided with the inauguration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Oil Terminal in the Eastern Mediterranean. The term and conceptualization of the "New Middle East," was subsequently heralded by the U.S. Secretary of State and the Israeli Prime Minister at the height of the Anglo-American sponsored Israeli siege of Lebanon. Prime Minister Olmert and Secretary Rice had informed the international media that a project for a "New Middle East" was being launched from Lebanon.

This announcement was a confirmation of an Anglo-American-Israeli "military roadmap" in the Middle East. This project, which has been in the planning stages for several years, consists in creating an arc of instability, chaos, and violence extending from Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria to Iraq, the Persian Gulf, Iran, and the borders of NATO-garrisoned Afghanistan.

The "New Middle East" project was introduced publicly by Washington and Tel Aviv with the expectation that Lebanon would be the pressure point for realigning the whole Middle East and thereby unleashing the forces of "constructive chaos." This "constructive chaos" - which generates conditions of violence and warfare throughout the region - would in turn be used so that the United States, Britain, and Israel could redraw the map of the Middle East in accordance with their geo-strategic needs and objectives. (Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, Plans for Redrawing the Middle East: The Project for a "New Middle East", Global Research, November 2006)

Note: The above map was prepared by Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters. It was published in the Armed Forces Journal in June 2006, Peters is a retired colonel of the U.S. National War Academy. (Map Copyright Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters 2006). Although the map does not officially reflect Pentagon doctrine, it has been used in a training program at NATO's Defense College for senior military officers. This map, as well as other similar maps, has most probably been used at the National War Academy as well as in military planning circles (Mahdi D. Nazemroaya).

All the evidence is there to prove ISIS and their ilks are instruments of U.S.-NATO-Israel foreign policy.

How long can the Western mainstream media ignore this overwhelming evidence that the U.S. and its allies are supporting the entities they claim to be be fighting in the Middle East without totally losing the very little credibility it has left?

Looking at the situation, Joachim Hagopian argues that the war on ISIS is just for show since its "enemy" is only gaining territory:

The US led coalition air strikes in Syria and Iraq have failed to stop the Islamic State's expansion. Four months ago it was noted that since the US air campaign began last August, the Islamic State has doubled its space in Syria, controlling more than one third of the country's territory. In the same way that the US predator drone warfare policy has only caused more hatred against America in the nations it's been deployed against in Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, the same reverse effect is occurring in Syria where residents are increasingly sympathetic to Islamic State. Additionally, Syrian opposition groups bitterly complain that the US led coalition forces fail to coordinate dropping bombs with the rebels, thus not permitting them any tactical advantage in driving IS back. It's as if the air strikes are more for show than to actually neutralize the enemy.(Joachim Hagopian,The US-Islamic State Dance: One Step Forward and Two Steps Back - By Design, Global Research, May 19, 2015)

This war on ISIS is just another disastrous endeavor for populations in the Middle East, another military intervention under a false pretext, another lie to divide and conquer. And once more, the Western mainstream media has failed to report the truth.

South Front Crisis News 29 May 2015: Poroshenko business attacked, massive bombing of Yemen continues

An unknown group attacked the company "Roshen" building in Kiev with a grenade launcher last night. There are no casualties, building is damaged. The owner of the company is the President Petro Poroshenko. We remember, so-called "democratic" leader of Ukraine didn't and doesn't want to sell his business despite the law prohibiting Ukrainian president has a business. In this case, Poroshenko isn't the president, but one of the most powerful oligarch in Ukraine.

When Petro is trying to find authors of attack on his business, Ukrainian Premier Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is continually smashing Minsk Agreements. On May 28, the official stated that Kiev government is ready to talk with People's Republics only if their representatives will be jailed. This statement is one more observable evidence of Kiev's unwil to solve the conflict in peaceful approach.

US-backed Saudi's airforces killed at least 80 people, most of them civilians, near Yemen's border with Saudi Arabia and in the capital Sana'a on Wednesday, residents said, the deadliest day of bombing in over two months of war in Yemen. The deadly airstrikes have escalated hard border clashes between the Shi'ite Muslim rebels and the coalition of Sunni Muslim Gulf Arab states.

Twin car bomb attacks targated the Babylon Hotel and Ishtar hotels in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad on Thursday. Reports said 15 people were killed and 27 others were wounded in the explosions. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks yet, but Iraqi officials often blame such attacks on ISIS terrorists, who seized large swaths of the country during a blitz last year. Iraqi army, along with volunteer forces, is continuing to fightt the Islamic State across the country, especially in the provinces of Anbar and Salahuddin.

Saudi Arabia marks its 90th execution this year, setting gruesome record

Amid a number of human rights complaints over the practice, Saudi Arabia's latest execution brings 2015's total to 90. Already equaling the total number from 2014, the kingdom continues to break its own record.

"With the year yet to pass its midpoint, the Gulf Kingdom has raced towards this choking toll at an unprecedented rate. This alarming surge in executions surpasses even the country's own previous dreadful records," Said Boumedouha, Deputy Middle East and North Africa programme director at Amnesty International, told .

Nearly half of Saudi Arabia's executions this year relate to minor drug-related charges. The latest, carried out in Riyadh on Thursday, was no different, despite the fact that the use of capital punishment for such minor offenses is considered a breach of international law.

While some of the executions are conducted by firing squad, many are public beheadings.

Earlier this month, the kingdom beheaded five foreigners and then hung the bodies from a helicopter in order to deter other would-be criminals.

The death penalty is often handed down after unfair trials, and the Saudi Supreme Court has recently ruled that judges can issue the punishment without having to prove guilt.

"The Saudi Arabian authorities' unwavering commitment to this brutal form of punishment is utterly gruesome considering the deep flaws in its justice system," Boumedouha said.

Ads posted by the Saudi government earlier this month indicated that Riyadh was looking to fill positions for eight new "religious functionaries." These low-wage civil employees would carry out the country's growing number of executions.

Despite the fact that the executions are often carried out in public, filming of the act is an arrestable offense.

Saudi authorities maintain that the death penalty is necessary for "maintaining security and realizing justice," and rape, murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, and apostasy are all punishable by death.

Amnesty International has repeatedly criticized the executions, calling this year's rise a "macabre spike."

"The use of the death penalty is cruel and inhumane in any circumstance, but it is even more outrageous when meted out as a punishment against someone convicted in a trial that makes a mockery of justice," Boumedouha added.

Yet despite international condemnation, Saudi Arabia has reportedly been lobbying the United Nations to become the next head of the Human Rights Council after Germany completes its term. Those reports stunned rights activists.

"Electing Saudi Arabia as the world's judge on human rights would be like making a pyromaniac as the town fire chief," Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, said in a statement.

Mystery 'surveillance plane' seen flying over Minnesota cities

Amid reports of US federal aircraft flying mysterious flight paths over American cities, new sightings of a strange, low-flying plane over Minneapolis has reinvigorated suspicions of government surveillance.

On Wednesday, an investigation conducted by civil liberties activists noticed a series of unexplained flight patterns in the skies above New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, and Seattle. Using the publicly available website , activists also noticed flights over Minneapolis.

On Thursday night, more unexplainable flights were observed over the Twin Cities.

"I thought, 'Holy crap'," John Zimmerman told the after he and his fellow aviation enthusiasts witnessed a small plane flying low over the city in incoherent patterns. It made repeated circles over downtown, the Mall of America, and Southdale Center for over four hours.

Using the same flight tracking website, Zimmerman traced the flight to a small Cessna, call sign N361DB, which is registered to LCB Leasing. That company is based out of Bristow, Virginia, thought the state has no record of its existence.

Earlier investigations by the American Civil Liberties Union and others have pegged LCB Leasing, and other mysterious companies, as fronts owned by the federal government. The ACLU is currently awaiting its Freedom of Information Act requests to confirm what it strongly suspects: that these planes are outfitted with high-definition video surveillance known as ARGUS, previously tested by the police department of Dayton, Ohio.

Strange flightpath over Minneapolis.

"The fact is there are several very powerful surveillance technologies that are deployed by fixed-wing aircraft circling over cities," Jay Stanley, a senior policy analyst with the ACLU, told the . "These are powerful surveillance technologies that we think the public ought to have a role in discussing and debating."

So powerful that they're able to thoroughly track multiple targets on the ground without the consent - or even awareness - of those on the ground. The ARGUS tests managed to monitor a triple-robbery suspect as he moved across the city.

The technology has also been used - admittedly - by the FBI during the Baltimore protests last month. The Baltimore Sun reported sighting of small aircraft circling high above the city, in what the bureau later confessed was a part of reconnaissance operations.

"The aircraft were specifically used to assist in providing high-altitude observation of potential criminal activity to enable rapid response by police officers on the ground," agency spokeswoman Amy Thoreson said.

The FBI declined to comment on the latest sightings over Minneapolis. Local police agencies told the they had no knowledge of the flights.

After witnessing the flights and identifying the plane owned by LCB Leasing, he began combing through FAA records. Using the call signs for the planes spotted over various cities, he searched for images and noticed that the aircraft had "external pods" attached to their undersides. Those attachments are not typically seen on small aircraft, and could potentially house surveillance equipment.

"Why don't we just say these are official things, rather than clouding them in three-letter contract companies?" Zimmerman asked. "I would feel better if these guys just flew the colors. I think we would all be better off."

Mom and toddler kicked off of flight, crying baby made crew feel 'unsafe'

A 7-months pregnant singer and her 23-month-old were kicked off of their United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Vancouver because the toddler was crying.

Singer Sarah Blackwood is currently on tour and travelling with her young son who became restless after boarding. The flight crew reportedly told the young mother to "control your child" while waiting for takeoff on the runway Wednesday.

"I was approached a few times by the two flight attendants on the plane, telling me to 'control my child.' They said I was his parent and I should know how to calm him down, and if I wasn't able to do that they would have to turn the plane around." Blackwood told People Magazine.

As the plane began to make its way to the runway, the pilot suddenly announced that it was returning to the gate to refuel. Upon arrival at the gate, however, another airline staff member approached Blackwood and told her that she needed to take her son and exit the plane. By this point in time, the young child was reportedly asleep in her lap.

"None of the passengers were complaining. They were all very sympathetic," Blackwood told The Hamilton Spectator. "The woman behind me stood up and said, 'That's ridiculous. You can't ask this woman to leave. Her son is sleeping.'"

[embedded content]

Embarrassed and in tears, Blackwood exited the flight and was rebooked for a later departure.

"I don't like to make a big deal of anything; I don't like to make a fuss; I don't put up fights," the singer says. "I just said to her, 'Please don't do this.' But she said, 'The staff doesn't feel safe on the plane with your son.' "

The singer is now looking into securing a lawyer against the airline and is demanding an apology, not from the airline, but from the specific flight attendant who demanded she leave the flight.

United's partner airline, SkyWest Airlines, who was operating the flight, remained unapologetic regarding the incident in a statement to People.

"The crew made the difficult decision to remove Ms. Blackwood and her child from the flight based solely on safety concerns. Despite numerous requests, the child was not seated, as required by federal regulation to ensure passenger safety, and was repeatedly in the aisle of the aircraft before departure and during taxi. While our crews work to make traveling safe and comfortable for all travelers, particularly families, the crew made the appropriate decision to return to the gate in the interest of safety."

Blackwood took to social media to vent her outrage, and even posted a video of her son to YouTube titled "The Child United Felt was Too Dangerous to Fly."

Several passengers of the flight took to United's Facebook page to voice their outrage over the way the situation was handled.

"Everyone on that flight was shocked at how unprofessional, unreasonable and insensitive a certain member of your staff acted!" a passenger named Paul William Moore wrote.

"What kind of flight attendants and pilot would do such a thing? Babies cry, definitely not a health or security risk to anyone on the plane. Terrible." Another passenger, Rick Collin, posted.
