A Greek restaurant in Düsseldorf on Wednesday received an anonymous hate letter which characterized Greece as a "corrupt" and "rotten" country and claimed that all Greeks are lazy and living on the expense of other hard-working counties.

Moreover, the unknown author accused the Greek government of behaving like a "brazen mob of jerks with no manners" and the Greek people of "extorting other hard-working countries" in order to maintain their comfortable and carefree lifestyle.

"Pay taxes... why? Work... why? Laying in the sun is easier, especially when others have to pay for it", said the racist letter, adding that "as long as the Greek government continues to ridicule and offend the hardworking and economical Europeans and Germans, we will no longer be buying anymore Greek products, nor will we be bringing our business to your establishment."

The racist rant of the unknown writer ends with the following words: "Go back to your corrupt, rotten and totally useless country."

In response to the insulting letter, the owner of the "Platon's Restaurant," Christina Maria Dora, posted a message on Facebook expressing her anger and disappointment over the cowardly "snail mail" attack.

"Our family runs the Restaurant Platon in Düsseldorf for 31 years. We live in Germany and feel connected to this country. We speak and write German and pay taxes like every citizen. We have created jobs and built a life here," Ms. Dora wrote, adding that "it is a shame to feel unwelcome after 31 years."

Several German media, including and magazines as well as the newspaper published reports condemning the unethical and prejudiced hate mail.

Comment: This racism and hate is a direct result of an information war against Greece. On February 26, the most widely read German tabloid in Europe, , circulated this cover:
bild NEIN

The campaign hardly needs much explanation: the statement in German written just below the "Nein", and across a blue and white background matching the Greek flag, says "No more billions for greedy Greeks."

As part of its campaign, Bild is encouraging readers to take selfies holding the page up and send them in for publication. As reports, selfies of readers brandishing the "Nein!" had already begun flooding in on Thursday morning, with many holding it up in their offices or outside their homes.

Mathias Döpfner, CEO of the Axel Springer Group, a self-styled "non-Jewish Zionist", receives the B'nai B'rith Europe 2014 Award of Merit

In his introductory words Ralph Hofmann said: "Dr. Mathias Döpfner is a firm opponent of any form of anti-Semitism. He supports the State of Israel and the Jewish people not only with his words but also with his deeds."

In his eulogy, Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, German Minister of Financial Affairs, praised Döpfner's support for the State of Israel: "Dr. Döpfner's voice is constant in its support of Israel and of the special relationship which Germany has for Israel and for the Jewish people."

In accepting the award, Dr. Döpfner said: "This award has made me extremely happy. We, the publishing company and its journalists stand firmly on the side of freedom, of democracy and of the Jewish people. My guiding principle is never to tolerate intolerance."

A standing ovation greeted the conclusion of Dr. Döpfner's very moving and powerful words.

Among the numerous dignitaries at the Gala Dinner were the Ambassador of Israel, Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, the General Consul of the United States of America Kevin Milas, President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi and Charlotte Knobloch, for many years President of the Central Committee of Jews in Germany.
